Salut tout le monde! 👋🏼 Welcome back to French with Amélie for another exciting edition!
On fonce et on réussit! You can do this! 🏆
✨ NEW FEATURE ALERT ✨
Below the dialogue you’ll now be invited to answer the day’s question for yourself in the comments. Any and all answers are welcome.. preferably in French. 🇫🇷
It’s the perfect way to (regularly) practice. Try it out.
We all secretly know the only way to truly learn a language are real-life conversations and experiences. Lessons and grammar can only take us so far.
While real-life experiences are difficult to recreate, my colloquial conversational dialogues help you learn authentic French in context. They’re how real French people actually speak.

Comment tu as découvert cette association ?
Ça m'a vraiment ému.
✪ Notes
ton association préférée = “une association" is feminine, but possessive masculine pronouns (mon, ton, son) are used in front of vowels to avoid two vowels following each other (it sounds bad to french ears).
je fais du bénévolat = I do voluntary work. ‘je suis bénévole’ = I am a volunteer/I’m volunteering
c’est génial que tu aies adopté - this is the ‘subj. passé composé’.
Please *do not freak out* about weird verb conjugations. You probably recognised that something weird was happening here.. 👏🏻 Bravo, that’s 50% of the work (no seriously).
Recognising is the foundation of all learning. If you’re super motivated when this happens, maybe figure out the verb (adopter) and then check Verbix. “Oh, that’s the subjunctive, cool” is a learning moment. The rest will fill itself in as you study. Trust me.
tenir le plus à cœur - matters most to you/closest to your heart
c’est clair = Ou, “carrément” - both colloquial. More formally: ”Tout à fait d'accord”.
Donc… Quelle est ton association préférée ?

It’s the perfect way to practice. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, that's how we learn!
*All answers are welcome, no answer is too long or short!
Translation
N: Tell me, J, what's your favourite charity?
J: I really like the charity for the protection of animals (the SPA). What about you?
N: I like the charity for the education of disadvantaged children. Every week, I do some voluntary work.
J: It's a good cause. How did you discover this association?
N: I saw an advert on TV and I was touched by their work. Now they can take care of the important work they do, and a little less of the financial aspect. And you, how did you discover this association for animals?
J: I adopted a dog from a shelter and I saw all the work they were doing to help abandoned animals. It really moved me.
N: It's great that you adopted a dog. It's important to support organisations that do good in the world.
J: Absolutely. But there are so many causes that deserve to be supported. I think it's important to find the one that's most important to us.
N: It's clear. We should all do our part to help others and make the world a better place.
