Quelle est la meilleure chose qui t'est arrivée cette semaine ? 🪴🦶🏻
What's the best thing that happened to you in the past week?
Coucou ☕️🇫🇷🥐 I'm Amélie Laurent and this is my French newsletter. I supercharge your progress from A2 to B2 through colloquial dialogues.

Bonjour mes étudiants préférés! 🎓
C'est parti pour une nouvelle aventure en français!
It seems you’ve all been enjoying the new audio feature, I’ve got some lovely feedback from the community. I’m really excited about it and it’s potential to accelerate everyone’s learning—but I probably made that more than clear in the launch edition!
✨ One other quick update… or, why there’s Chillis 🌶️ everywhere now!
I’ve been really surprised at the response to the little difficulty poll I’ve thrown in at dialogue’s end. I don’t know why though! My reader’s haven’t failed to disappoint me yet.
But in case any of you were wondering What’s up with that?. My cunning plan is that by crowd-sourcing a difficulty level from my actual readers, it’ll allow us to authentically group dialogues by difficulty. Which will then allow old and new readers alike to quickly find dialogues at their level when they browse the archive. Pretty neat, huh?
And anyone who answers the poll gets to sleep that bit sounder knowing they helped some fellow language-learners along the way! 💤🌙 Everyone wins!
So please feel free to leave your opinion and help the community.
It’s another little feature I’m hoping can make this an even better resource for everyone 💜
It’s Tuesday again, and that means I’ve another colloquial dialogue for you to read, re-read, edit, write, listen to, record, shout, respond to, laugh at (hopefully), dissect, be surprised by, and sit-with it!
We all secretly know the only way to truly learn a language are real-life conversations and experiences. Lessons and grammar can only take us so far.
While real-life experiences are difficult to recreate, my colloquial conversational dialogues help you learn authentic French in context. They’re how real French people actually speak.

✪ Notes
(être) dans la merde✨ = avoir des ennuis = be up sh*t creek. A wonderful French expression ! 🤌🏼
c’est le pied = it’s great / it’s terrific! More info🔗 on this fun expression.
faire le buzz = go viral!
Devine(z) quoi?✨ = Guess what? A nice canned phrase that you can throw into conversation and sound super French.
donner/avoir la pêche = (this thing) makes me enthusiastic and full of energy! Same deal as la banane et la patate🗼 from a few weeks ago.
C'est dingue✨ = synonym of fou = ‘crazy’. Verlan🔗: geudin (although that’s maybe a little too colloquial you guys). There’s even a noun form!
Une dinguerie = craziness, you’ll really catch French ears if you drop that one. Best to keep it simple though, ‘C’est une dinguerie!’ with appropriate dismissive shake of your head and you’re nailed on! 💁
*✨ = especially ‘Frenchie’ words/phrases you should try and use more.
Writing Prompt ✍️
I received a genuine, old-fashioned letter from an old friend I hadn't heard from in years this week, so it would have to be that! We lose too many friends through life, so getting the chance to reconnect with old ones is right up there.
Alors, quelle est la meilleure chose qui t’est arrivée cette semaine ?
All answers are welcome. One word.. or one sentence.
Write me your answer in the comments. I can’t wait to read them! 👇🏼

L: What's the best thing that's happened to you this week?
C: Well, L, you know, I had a horrible day on Tuesday. I was in a real mess, nothing was going right. Then my aunt dropped by unexpectedly and gave me a plant I'd wanted for a long time. Isn't that great?
L: Oh, that's great, C! A plant can really brighten up a room. For me, it's a bit different. Do you remember the video I made during my lunch break on Tuesday?
C: Yes, the one with your inspirational speech?
L: Exactly. Well, it went viral on the Internet. And guess what? My boss wants to promote me because of it!
C: Are you serious, L? I can't believe it!
L: Yes, I'm still in shock. It really brightened up my week.
L: And your plant is really giving you a lift?
C: Yes, it really made my day. It's amazing how a little thing can make a big difference.

Une Façon d'utiliser ce Dialogue
These dialogues are a very simple tool. Yet this allows them to be versatile and endlessly flexible to you and your learning style.
Here’s one way you could use the dialogue this week:
👄 Beginner ‘Shadowing’ - Listen to the recording and read the dialogue aloud at the same time.
Repeat this at least x3. You will be surprised at how you can self-detect mistakes. It’s the best way not only to master colloquial speech, but accent and intonation as well.
Check out my quick guide🔗 for different ways you can learn with these dialogues. Perfect if you’re finding them too easy or too hard. 🙌🏻

La meilleure chose de la semaine dernière est en réalité pas une chose et pas de la semaine dernière. Les deux semaines (depuis le juillet 14) j'ai passé en voyages (j'ai visité les capitales de 🇨🇿 🇦🇹 🇭🇺) et aussi mes amis et mes relatives qui habite à 🇵🇱. Donc ces voyages étaient la meilleure chose de la semaine dernière.
