While real-life experiences are difficult to recreate, my colloquial conversational dialogues help you learn authentic French in context. They’re how real French people actually speak.

Wow! Tuesday’s post was the best response I’ve ever had to a dialogue! It had more than double the likes and comments of the previous post (apparently people don’t love singing in the shower as much as I do 🥲).

Dialogue du Jour
Vivienne : Quelle est ta boisson préférée, Michel ?
Michel : Eh bien, Vivienne, je suis un grand amateur de thé. J'aime particulièrement le thé vert, et toi ?
Vivienne : Moi, je suis plutôt café ✪. J'adore l'odeur et le goût d'un bon expresso. D'ailleurs, je collectionne les machines à café vintage !
Michel : C'est original ✪! Je connais un salon de thé où ils servent également d'excellents cafés. On pourrait y aller un jour si tu veux.
Vivienne : Ce serait super. Et en ce qui concerne les boissons fraîches ✪, j'aime beaucoup les smoothies aux fruits. Ils sont délicieux et pleins de vitamines.
Michel : Les smoothies, c'est une excellente idée, surtout en été. Moi, je suis fan de limonade maison ✪. J'aime la préparer avec des citrons bio ✪ et un peu de menthe fraîche.
Vivienne : J’en fais aussi parfois, mais avec du gingembre pour ajouter une petite touche épicée.
Michel : Ça doit être savoureux ✪. Et en parlant de boissons épicées, as-tu déjà essayé le chai latte ? C'est un mélange de thé noir, d'épices et de lait.
Vivienne : Oui, j'aime beaucoup le chai latte, surtout en hiver. Ça réchauffe et ça donne une sensation de réconfort.

c’est original ! - A repeat from last week (good job if you recognised it). If you notice repetition, it’s intentional, and will help your brain pick up vocabulary quickly and naturally. Because no brain learnt a word from seeing it once!
les boissons fraîches = cold drinks. les sodas = fizzy drinks. l’eau du robinet = tap water, l’eau en bouteille = bottled water
limonade maison = homemade lemonade. (fait) maison = homemade. Ex. “Je refuse jamais un dîner fait maison”
bio = biologique = organic. You’ll be impressed by French grocery-store’s organic selection, they’re huge! sans gluten = gluten free, végétarien = vegetarian
savoureux = tasty/delicious Alt: délicieux, trop bon
Maybe a surprise (because, yes I like coffee as much as the next person) but it’s undoubtedly a classic French 'citron pressé' for me. There's something about the refreshing tartness of freshly squeezed lemon—I’m there. Whether I'm people-watching at a café or just enjoying the sunset from my balcony, a pressé is always the perfect companion.

V: I'm more of a coffee person. I love the smell and taste of a good espresso. Besides, I collect vintage coffee machines!
M: That's original! I know a tea shop where they also serve excellent coffee. We could go there sometime if you want.
V: That would be great. And as far as cold drinks go, I really like the fruit smoothies. They're delicious and full of vitamins.
M: Smoothies are a great idea, especially in the summer. I'm a fan of homemade lemonade. I like to make it with organic lemons and a little fresh mint.
V: I also make it sometimes, but with ginger to add a little spice.
M: It must be tasty. And speaking of spicy drinks, have you ever tried a chai latte? It's a mixture of black tea, spices and milk.
V: Yes, I really like chai latte, especially in winter. It warms you up and gives you a comforting feeling.
